1. Diagnostic Features
- Senioritis is decreased motivation towards studies displayed by high school seniors.
- Symptoms: loss of energy, procrastination, slowness, apathy regarding school work, tendency towards truancy
2. Association Disorders
- anxiety disorder, personality disorder, or substance-related disorder; those can be caused by senioritis or found within the senioritis.
3. Specific Culture, Age and Gender Features
- Senioritis is usually common in U.S. and Canada, however, it may apply to all high school seniors in many different countries.
- the age: commonly 17-18 years old
4. Duration
- A person has about 2 or more than 2 weeks of symptoms before it is clinically diagnosed.
- However, it might vary depend on the person.
5. Specific Symptoms
- loss of energy
- not doing work
- increased truancy
- procrastination/ laziness
6. Prevalence
- Most of high school seniors have senioritis. According to one survey results, 72% out of 68 seniors said that they have senioritis.(Figure 1)
7. Course
- Senioritis usually appears in the middle of the or beginning of the second semester.
- Senioritis may go away after graduating high school, however, it might vary.
- There is possibility that the senioritis may come back.
